Do you think that all the inhabitants of heaven are happy? All those people who are currently in heaven in the presence of the Lord? I’m gonna venture to say that they are happier then they have ever been. If you were in heaven in the Lord’s presence everyday walking side by side with him in fellowship, do you think that you would be happy too? How exhilarated would you feel all the time just to be with Him? Do you think that you would be sad or depressed in the presence of the Lord? Its hard to image that you would feel anything other than peace and happiness in the presence of the Savior doesn’t it?
20 One day the Pharisees asked Jesus, “When will the Kingdom of God come?” Jesus replied, “The Kingdom of God can’t be detected by visible signs.21 You won’t be able to say, ‘Here it is!’ or ‘It’s over there!’ For the Kingdom of God is already among you.” (Luke 17:20-21)
Do you see what Jesus said in that verse? “For the Kingdom of God is already among you.” What does that mean? I will tell you what that verse means to me but please indulge me for a moment. Do you remember the visual you had in your head when you first started reading this post when I asked you how happy you would be walking in fellowship with Christ in heaven? Maybe you were imagining yourself walking side by side with Jesus against a beautiful tropical background, or Christ sitting down with you at your diner table in the mansion that he prepared for you. Those would most certainly be happy times, would they not? So what’s my point? My point is this, Jesus said “For the Kingdom of God is already among you.” Christ and his kingdom are here now. He is already walking by your side and sitting down at your dinner table with you every night. You can talk to him anytime you wish and take comfort in the fact that he will never leave you.
Happiness is not something that is far away or something that you have to wait for. Happiness is found in Christ right now. Do you remember when I asked you, how can you be in the presence of Jesus and not feel happy? With that being said, how are you feeling now? What is your mood like at this very moment? Knowing that Christ and his kingdom are already here with you should make you feel like those people that you were imagining in heaven who live in the presence of Jesus. God is good all the time, and these are good times!
Verse of the day:
4 Give me happiness, O Lord, for I give myself to you. (Psalms 86:4)
Challenge of the day:
Today I challenge you to just be happy in the presence of the Lord. Give yourself completely to him and he will give you happiness. Don’t worry about the cares of the world today because you are a citizen of heaven and there is only complete happiness in the kingdom of God.
